Work Sample 1: Excerpts from Two by Two
Three moments (start at 0:00) from Two by Two, which was theater/ritual tailored to a sole audience member to allow conflicting internal narratives to negotiate with each other via representation in set, props, sounds, and characters. I interviewed audience member, developed improv scores for actors, collaborated with music composer, designed set and props, secured donated spaces. Audient is in shadow to protect her anonymity. My work at Eyebeam would be directly informed by what I learned here.
Work Sample 2: Rehearsal Excerpts from Doppelganger
Rehearsal excerpts (start at 0:00) from Doppelganger, a piece of immersive theater I directed. First, actors playing different aspects of the same character learn to closely sync movements through my prompts. Second, an actor develops ritual choreography by adding twists and level changes to the movements in first clip. This demonstrates one of my approaches to bodies in art: daily life movements as point of departure for creating ritual where rhythms and meanings can be disrupted/extended.
